Happy NFL season, everyone! I’m excited to pick the games every week again for a second season. To recap how we did in 2020: 150 wins, 81 losses, and one tie. Roughly 65% accuracy, which we will gladly take. Let’s see if 2021 is better for us. Let’s dive into the slate of games for the NFL season’s opening week with our NFL Week 1 picks!
Dallas Cowboys at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs kick off the NFL season as the defending Super Bowl Champs against the hobbled Dallas Cowboys. While Dak Prescott will be suiting up for Dallas, their All-Pro guard Zack Martin will not. A Dallas line that is missing a key piece versus the best defense in the NFL is a recipe for disaster. The Dallas defense is still suspect, and Tampa has too many weapons. I see Tampa winning convincingly on opening night. Tom Brady is on his quest to repeat as Super Bowl champion.
Pick: Bucs
New York Jets at Carolina Panthers
Sam Darnold starts his Panther career off against the team that traded him this off-season. However, I think Darnold and the Panthers will win in this revenge game. Zach Wilson has some traits to be excited about, but I think the Panther’s defense will bait him into bad decisions and get Darnold to win against his former team.
Pick: Panthers
Los Angeles Chargers at Washington Football Team
Justin Herbert took the league by storm last year with one of the most dazzling rookie seasons of all time. However, he faces off against the best defensive line in the NFL to open his sophomore season. The Chargers did invest their round pick in impressive rookie Rashawn Slater, but I do not think it will be enough. The Football team’s offense will score some big plays with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center, and their impressive defense will pick up where it left off.
