NHL Best Bets 4/3/21

Justin Bruni

NHL Best Bets

There will be plenty of opportunities to profit in the NHL with a nice 12 game slate on today’s books. I’m excited about these picks – these teams and trends have benefited me in recent weeks. Let us hear your feedback on Twitter @Tothehizzy; we’d love to hear who you like for tonight as well. Lets dive into this Saturday’s Best Bets!!

Penguins / Bruins

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Boston Bruins

The Penguins are one of the hottest and most profitable teams in the NHL right now. They’ve won five straight games and seven of their last ten. Pittsburgh has lost by just a single goal across their previous three losses. Their defense is at the core of their recent success, as the club has only allowed more than two goals twice in their last ten matchups. Despite all this upside, the Penguins still come in as underdogs in this game at +100 on the Moneyline.

The sportsbooks suspect the Penguin’s hot streak is about to come to an end. However, I’m not sure the Bruins are the team to do it. The Bruins are 5-5 across their last ten games and haven’t looked themselves. The Bruins will again be without Tuuka Rask in goal, and the Penguins have beat up on both fill-ins Jaroslav Halak and Daniel Vlader recently. The Penguins make my best bets list because they’ve cashed for me 3x in the past week, that includes their previous victory versus the Bruins when they covered +1.5 just days ago.

I like the Penguins to hit six straight wins; getting the Penguins at +100 on this run is terrific value. However, the safest pick is still my favorite pick – take the Penguins at +1.5 on the spread and enjoy some mid-day profit.

Florida / Columbus

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Florida Panthers

I’ve been enjoying the resurgence of the Panthers franchise. As a Blackhawks fan, it’s tough not to root for Joel Quenneville. The Panthers are another team who’s on a roll! They’ve won four games in a row and are 3-1 against Columbus this season.

The Blue Jackets have been sub-par this season with a record of 14-16-8. Columbus is 4-4-2 across their last ten games and lack a comprehensive defense to combat the Panther’s relentless attack. Columbus ranks 23rd in the NHL for goals allowed and 25th on the penalty kill. Those numbers don’t bode well against their counterpart in the Panthers tonight.

The Panther’s powerplay ranks 9th in the NHL and 7th in the league for goals scored. The Panthers have had some recent injuries, but the Blue Jackets don’t have enough firepower; this is a team that lost back-to-back games to the Detroit Red Wings; they’re in a complete free fall. I’ve cashed on the Panthers in three of their last four games and i’m Hammering them again, do the same before the books move the needle!

Vegas / Wild

Minnesota Wild vs. Las Vegas Golden Knights

This game is a tougher matchup to call as both teams are 6-3-1 across their past ten games. These two teams just played a few days ago and resulted in a 3-2 victory for the Wild. The Golden Knights are still the better team, and I’m anticipating a bounce-back performance from their crew.

The Vegas Golden Knights have been very profitable at home with a record of 14-3-2. Yes, they’re coming off a home loss from Minnesota, but both clubs have been keeping games tight recently. I like the Wild to cover, but the Knights will take home a narrow victory.

The biggest matchup in this game will be the Wild’s powerplay; they rank last in the NHL, whereas the Golden Knights rank 5th on the penalty kill this year. The Golden Knights play fantastic five-on-five hockey, so not having that upside on the powerplay is quite troubling for Minnesota. The Knights have profited me all year and I love them to bounce back tonight and even the season-long series at three games a piece, Hammer Down the Knights!
