Dallas Mavericks vs. Toronto Raptors
The Dallas Mavericks lost to my Bulls last night 117-101. While I was surprised by my home team’s success, I believe the Mavericks will bounce back tonight against the Raptors. Toronto is starting to find themselves as they have won three out of their last five games. The two losses came from Portland and Golden State; they would lose both matchups by just one point. Despite the recent success, Toronto is still 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games.
Dallas, on the other hand, has had great success covering the spread. Dallas is 5-2 ATS in their last seven games and are 7-4 ATS on the season. They covered for us at the Hizzy on Friday night against Milwaukee and covered five straight games before last night’s loss to my Chicago Bulls. I’m not going to pick Dallas to win, though; they’re 0-5 in their previous five matchups against the Raptors when playing them on the road.
This game’s total is 221, and that’s a tough number to call given the trends. Toronto has only hit the under in just two of their last eight games; the games that hit the under totaled at least 230+ points. The overs hit across that time ranged from 215 to 221 points. Dallas has only hit the over in two of their last eight games, but their totals have been much higher. There was just one game with a total of fewer than 220 points across those games. I liked the Over a lot more yesterday when it was down to 217, i’ll take the Under after the update. I like the Raptors to win 111-109; it’ll be close.
Best Bet: Mavericks +3.5 / Second Favorite Bet: Under 221
Milwaukee Bucks Vs. Brooklyn Nets
I’m not sure how James Harden lost all that weight in such a short time? It could have been an intense sauna regiment, perhaps fasting, or maybe he just ended his visits to the free buffet at the strip clubs?! No matter the reason, Harden has exploded upon his arrival to Brooklyn. He recorded a triple-double his first night with the Nets in a 122-115 victory over the Orlando Magic. The Nets are laying +2 ATS in his second game in a premier matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Bucks have been on fire, winning eight of their last ten games. However, I’m betting they come back down to earth tonight against the revamped Nets. The Nets have won three games in a row and could get Kyrie Irving back tonight after a six-game hiatus; he’s currently a game-time decision. Sportsbooks will shift the spread if Kyrie is a confirmed starter, so this is a number I’m willing to jump on early. Brooklyn is 4-8 ATS in their last 12 games, but I’m fading this trend with the addition of Harden and the potential return of Irving.
The total in this game is a scorching 237.5 points, and I’ll be taking the over! There should be plenty of offense available in this matchup. The Nets have averaged 120 points per game in their last eight games despite missing Irving and just receiving Harden. Milwaukee has averaged 117 points per game in their previous eight games, so we’re already cutting it close. Combine Milwaukee’s pace with Brooklyn’s elite scoring options sprinkled in with a returning Kyrie Irving, and we’ll hit this number no problem. We can’t back this pick with too many trends because the Nets are a whole new team after the Harden trade; I’ll need your trust on this one.
Best Bet: Brooklyn +2 / Second Favorite Bet: Over 237.5
