NBA Power Rankings

The NBA season is underway. With most teams playing four games, let’s dive into our NBA power rankings. We’re starting with the top five teams of this young season.

1. Brooklyn Nets 3-2

The Nets are playing like a well-oiled machine and they don’t seem to have any plans of slowing down. Kyrie Irving is out to show why his name is considered when discussing the best Point Guards in the league.

Kevin Durant, after a long absence, looks to be well recovered and a force to be reckoned with. Not to mention the Nets bench is stacked, most of whom would be starters on other teams. Brooklyn is an early favorite to win the East and leads TITTH’s first NBA power rankings.

2. Los Angeles Lakers 3-2

The defending champs already look to have a chance to repeat as the season has gotten underway. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are already playing at an elite level which comes as no surprise.

Though, against the Trailblazers, the Lakers struggled with the pick and roll. This could lead to their future opponents adding heavy doses of P-n-Rs into their game plan. However, I do see the Lakers making defensive adjustments to prevent it from being a long term issue. The Los Angeles Lakers seem primed to repeat as the Western Conference Champs.

3. Orlando Magic 4-0

You have got to give credit where credit is due. Surprisingly, the Orlando Magic are the only undefeated team in the NBA. Looking at the stats, it’s easy to see why. Three of their starters, Nikola Vucevic, Markelle Fultz, and Evan Fournier, are all averaging 17+ points per game.

Also, the Magic are getting solid production from Terrence Ross off the bench. He is currently the leading scorer on the Magic, averaging 21 points a game. If they can keep performing at this level, Orlando will be a force to be reckoned with. Do you believe in Magic?

4. Indiana Pacers 3-1

A team flying under the radar early, the Pacers are playing good ball. With Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis, and Malcolm Brogdon averaging 20+ points a game, the Pacers’ offense can be explosive. If the Pacers can continue with their success, they will be a handful for a lot of teams. Does Indiana have what it takes to stay amongst the best teams in the Eastern Conference?

5. Los Angeles Clippers 4-1

To no surprise, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George and picking up where they left off last season. With their big two playing at an elite level, the Clippers are favorites to meet the Lakers in the WCF. The biggest obstacle the Clippers will have is making sure Leonard stays healthy.

LAC looked lost in their game against the Mavericks without Kawhi. Losing by 50 points and with all the bricks being shot, the Staples Center considered renaming itself the Brick House. If Kawhi is the heartbeat of this team, then the Clippers need to keep him healthy at all costs. With him in the lineup alongside PG, this team is an elite team.
