Next Man Up: Salvon Ahmed

Salvon Ahmed

If I were not hanging by a thread with Myles Gaskin and Jordan Howard as my running backs in my fantasy league, I swear I would have no clue about Salvon Ahmed. Take It to the Hizzy has me on-air: seeing S. Ahmed (pronounced Ack-med) on Bleacher Report puzzled why he led Miami last week in rushing.

Salvon Ahmed Has Ran With His Chance

Salvon Ahmed is quietly becoming the lead back in Miami. First, it’s freaking Tua Time, so a rookie running back rushing for a max of 83 yards in a game won’t burn down the city like Tua will. Second, Miami just released Jordan Howard yesterday. Howard was a touchdown vulture who would classically had more rushing attempts than rushing yards.¬†

When Howard was out in Weeks 5-8, Myles Gaskin stepped up with 52 attempts, 142 rushing yards, and two touchdowns. Then Gaskin went down with a sprained MCL in Week 8, so enter stage left, Salvon Ahmed. In his first game, not going to lie, Ahmed did not scream All-Pro. He only led the Dolphins with 38 rushing yards on seven attempts. Ahmed’s first game coincided with Tua’s first game as a starter, so Ahmed just seemed like a fill-in.
