Week 5 was filled with surprises, breakouts, and heartbreak. Let’s dive into our Tuesday’s Ten Thoughts For Week 5.
Atlanta Finally Fired Dan Quinn
This move was long overdue. The Falcons have never been the same since they blew the Super Bowl. They have a large lead after a large lead and their team has no confidence even when they are winning. Atlanta also fired their GM so this team is getting ready for a rebuild. The Texans fired Bill O’Brien last week and won their first game, so this move could give the Falcons a big push. Ironically, defensive coordinator, Raheem Morris takes over as Interim Head Coach.
To Tua or not to Tua, that is the question
The Dolphins pulled off a major upset by going into San Francisco and beating the 49ers as if they owed them money. Fitzmagic is alive and well and he is keeping the Dolphins in games. So when does Brian Flores decide to play Tua? My thoughts are to let Fitzpatrick play as long as he is keeping your team afloat.
Jimmy No Longer a G
Jimmy Garroppolo looked absolutely lost out there on Sunday in his first game back from injury. He was 7/17 for 77 yards and he threw 2 interceptions, contributing to the Dolphins spanking the 49ers in San Francisco 43-17. Kyle Shanahan pulled Garroppolo at halftime and cited it is “to protect the quarterback.”
This is something to monitor as the 49ers dropped to 2-3 and are in the last place in the NFC West. As mentioned earlier, the Atlanta Falcons will be doing a full rebuild next year so it will be interesting to see if Kyle Shannahan attempts to trade for Matt Ryan. Shannahan was Ryan’s offensive coordinator during Ryan’s MVP year.
