Kupp’s Strengths

The Rams have high expectations for Cooper Kupp after his career season in 2019 recording 94 catches, 1161 reception yards, 10 touchdowns. Although Kupp went down in 2018 with a torn ACL after just 8 games, he was on pace to finish with 110 catches, 1132 reception yards, and 12 touchdowns.

With free agency looming next summer, Kupp is in line for a huge year. He’s already shown that he can respond from a serious injury putting up big numbers. Kupp’s 2020 production will secure the big pay-day!

Kupp delivers true and consistent WR1 numbers week in and week out. He’s averaged 5.5 catches, 72 reception yards, and 0.66 touchdowns per game over the previous 24 games. His numbers are only going to increase with the Rams’ current scheme and personnel.

Kupp’s Weaknesses

Cooper Kupp will get more opportunities with Cooks leaving for Houston and Gurley signing with Atlanta. Though, he is still battling for targets with Woods, Higbee, Reynolds, and potentially rookie Van Jefferson. I could see rookie Cam Akers as a receiving threat but I don’t believe any Rams running back cuts into Kupp’s production.

Lastly, Kupp’s only weakness is actually his fantasy strength. Kupp was ranked 57th in yards/per reception last year. While that may not seem flattering to the stat line, Kupps’s role is highlighted; in that, he’s not used as a deep threat. He’s always coming out of the slot or getting moved around the LOS to set up quick and easy passing plays.

Last Take

I’m comfortable taking Kupp as the first WR on my roster. He’s a receiver that can just land in your lap if you decide to secure Top TE/QB or double down on RBs in the first few rounds. He’s my WR 10 but i’m going to select him with more value in rounds three or later.
